Hello, and how we got here...
Hello, my name is Shana, and welcome to my Sweetly Handmade Studio. Here you will find handmade soaps, crafts, and home decor. All of which are made by me here in Brooklyn, NY. I want to share with you how I got here. Don’t worry. I’m not starting from my birth. LOL!
I started an Etsy shop in December of 2019 but started a new job in January 2020. That left me with little to no time or energy to put into my shop. Being furloughed in the spring due to Covid-19 changed everything for me like so many others. I suddenly had more time than I knew what to do with it. I invested in my shop by adding more products. I started by working with melt and pour soap but eventually began making cold process soap from scratch. I also began making hand-poured decorative home items with resin.
I soon realized I needed a website. One that I could have control over in terms of design and feel. I also wanted to work on my craft. I began researching ingredients and how they would interact with each other. I am someone who has dealt with numerous skin issues from eczema to seasonal heat rash, creating a quality product for others is very important to me. I use base oils known for benefiting the condition of the skin, pure essential oils, and phthalate-free fragrances. Creating soap recipes feeds directly into my “chef brain.” I have always enjoyed making and trying new recipes. But these creations are not for eating.
Now is just beginning for Sweetly Handmade Studio. I hope to continue on this path, and I hope you will continue on it with me.
